Dharma & Karma are since the 16th of april 2011 in Kathmandu, Nepal, finishing up preparation work for a journey organized in cooperation with ISHTAR™ to Lo Manthang und Yara.

The team and friends will visit Yara and get to know its population and the situation on site.

In cooperation and the support of ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) the team and ACAP’s engineer will make all measurements, draw up plans and make all calculations aswell as the budget for phase 1 of the project.

H.E.L.P. is still looking for companies, private persons or any NGO ready to support our project financially and/or working on site.

Whoever is knowledgable in the fields of alternative energies, waterpumps, waste disposal, etc. is more than welcome to share any knowledge with us.

We are also looking for people from the medical field willing to spend one or two months per year in Upper Mustang, helping on site.

We will inform on this website about all the steps and progress of the project, in word and pictures.

Project „Kingdom of Lo“ - Upper Mustang

The "Kingdom of Lo" lies in a very isolated region at 10‘000 to 16‘000 above sea level and can only be reached by foot crossing over several high passes. Until 1992 the kingdom was not accessible, a so called „Restricted Area“.

Today it can only be visited by optaining a very expensive „Special Permit“ and in being prepared to take on strenuous hikes for days under very basic conditions. The nature is harsh and magnificent. Living conditions are tough and demanding, asking a lot of the people of Lo and any visitor.

Mustang, Königreich Lo - Mustang, the kingdom of Lo

For years this remote region has been entirely neglected by the Nepalese government and the living conditions resemble ours in the 19th century. The „Loa“, as they are called by the population, are Buddhist and rooted in Tibet with an own Tibetan language.

In cooperation with various Loa and respecting local traditions and circumstances H.E.L.P will realise a model in the village of Yara which can be adopted by the entire Upper Mustang. This model will cover all aspects of life; building, irrigation, drinking water supply, tapping of springs, generating energy, health system and hygiene.

In addition, and in coordination with already existing schools and enterprises, we will create opportunities in order to enable those leaving school to get further education or start an apprenticeship

A typical home in Lo Manthang, everyone is living under the same roof. This is a view of a courtyard which is also serving as an entrance room, working area and meeting place.
